I found the same charge on my CC, so I called PopSci to ask about it. It's the subscription renewal fee, and when I told the PopSci customer service lady that I hadn't renewed she said that if a person first subscribes to PopSci via the internet, renewal is automatic. That was a surprise, and since I'd grown tired of PopSci magazine I asked her to cancel my subscription and refund the twenty bucks to the CC. She did, no problem.

I have seen it twice recently (6 & 8/2020). In each case BofA has rejected the card. I access my PopSci account directly and find my subscription is valid for more than a year. Renewal is set to automatic and not necessary at this time. Looks to be a fraud.
