My wife had a fender bender in LA recently. Then this charge (SFM*ROADSIDE ASSIST 886-710-6121) showed up on our credit card billing, but our insurance Company (Allstate), nor the repair shop knows who "SFM" is. I've tried calling the number but it is inoperable. Who is this SFM outfit ???

SFM is a roadside assistance provider that either has a contract with or is a subsidiary of ALLSTATE insurance.

I also received a bill on my credit card from SFM roadside assistance . At no time did I give the credit card number to anyone . So I believe this is a scam , nor do I have Allstate roadside , or anything with Allstate .

SFM is a roadside assistance through Allstate. Called because my car was stuck on the side of highway. They told me that they would contact a towing company but never came. This is a scam and charged my credit card. Fraudulent activity.

Called them Monday for a tow. They charged my card $110 but the receipt says $48. I called them back and they gave me the runaround saying they didn’t even show a charge and to speak with my insurance company because the charge was from them. But I thought you weren’t showing a charge? Spoke with my insurance company and they can’t tell me why I was charged so much. I went to my bank and was told I would have to wait until it cleared my account to disputed it and then I would have to cancel my debit card and get a new one. I’m beyond livid and will be reporting these people to the proper authorities.

Appears to be the Allstate call center for roadside assistance. I was charged for a call when they never responded. Attempting to get charge reversed now.

I have Verizon Roadside Assistance and recently requested a very short 11.7 mile tow service through the Verizon program. I called the special Verizon Roadside Assistance phone number and In talking to the agent I agreed to a charge of $7.23 which was for 1.7 miles over the 10 mile free maximum. All was absolutely fine. Tow truck came, hooked my van up, I signed his work order and he towed it to my mechanic's shop. Later, when I looked at the charge from my bank debit card and it was for exactly the correct $7.23 amount. The only confusing part was the charge code; "SFM*ROADSI_SFM*ROADSIDE ASSIST_877-623-7433 IL". Upon further online research I found that "SFM" likely stands for SFM Mutual Insurance Company. They likely have the roadside Insurance contract with Verizon as the 877 phone number in the above code is the same number I called to order the towing service in the first place. ALL was great! I hope that helps...

Called Onstar on 10/24/2022. They transferred me to these SFM folks. These SFM folks kept saying that the tow was on the way. We sat there for over 2 hours and they never came. But they charged my card for $184.41. They said the charge was on hold and it would drop off after a couple days. Never happened! So upset!!
